Upon receiving a distress call, Caroline Grace from Baby Kitten Rescue in Los Angeles rushed to aid a litter of eight kittens in dire need. They were brought into a local shelter in terrible condition, struggling with various health problems.
Upon opening the carrier containing the kittens, Caroline was taken aback by the sight before her. They were lying motionless on their sides, with two of them, Ruby and Emmy, gasping for breath.
Caroline didn’t waste any time and sprang into action, providing critical care for the fragile kittens. She made sure to place them in an incubator to regulate their body temperatures and give them the best chance at survival.
She was saved along with her seven brothers and sisters, and the smallest of the litter, Baby Kitten Rescue. To tackle hypoglycemia, she was given fluids and glucose supplements. All eight kittens were diagnosed with Calicivirus, leading to upper respiratory issues and mouth ulcers, as well as other infections. Among them, Ruby, the smallest kitty, was the most fragile. At just two weeks old, she was as tiny as a newborn and struggled to breathe with sores around her mouth, requiring round-the-clock tube feeding.
Having a foster mom to care for her was a lifeline for Ruby, the smallest of her litter in need of extra love and attention to heal. While her siblings bounced back quickly with treatment, Ruby faced a longer recovery journey. Despite her small size and delicate health, she showed an incredible resilience and determination to thrive.
