When the visitors arrived at the shelter, the little kitten immediately latched onto them, showing undeniable affection. This bond ultimately led to the rescue of the kitten, saving his precious life from an uncertain fate.
A tiny black and white kitten arrived at an animal shelter in urgent need of foster care due to a mild upper respiratory infection and being smaller than expected for his age. Despite a plea for assistance from shelter staff, no one came forward to help after a week of waiting. Fortunately, Erin, a foster parent with Wrenn Rescues, heard about the kitten’s situation and felt compelled to step in. “His adorable face just tugged at our hearts. We collaborated with Mel Lamprey and Pumpkin Patch Pet Rescue to immediately rescue him,” Erin shared with Love Meow.
After spending a week at the shelter, the adorable kitten known as Owen was finally rescued by @catasticalmeows. From the moment he was brought home, it was clear that Owen had a big personality and was determined to never be alone again. Throughout the car ride, his cute, crunchy meows filled the air as he made sure his new family knew just how much he appreciated being saved. “He’s already showing so much personality,” they remarked as Owen made himself right at home.
During the journey back, Owen was chatty and expressive about his adventures. As soon as he reached home, he dove into playing with his toys. Snuggling into his human’s lap, he found comfort and warmth, eventually drifting off to sleep with a contented purr. It seemed like all he desired was some cuddles and affection, as if he was making up for the time spent apart.
He turned into a cuddle bug right away! “From the start, he was super affectionate and friendly, enjoying his meals and playtime. Everything seemed great, until things took a turn,” Erin recounted. One morning, Erin discovered Owen feeling tired, uninterested in food, and unengaged in play. “He just wanted to curl up on your shoulder and nap.”

He started shedding pounds quickly, so Erin took matters into her own hands by syringe-feeding him and providing fluids. A visit to the vet revealed the shocking diagnosis of panleukopenia. Despite being vaccinated at the shelter before they adopted him, there was still a risk of exposure.

Despite being small for his age, Owen had a fierce spirit within him. When they brought him home, he was equipped with all the support he needed to overcome his challenges.
After receiving fluids, medication, and syringe feeds for a few days, Owen began to show signs of improvement. Not only did his appetite return, but his bold voice also returned.

He was once again vocal at meal times, grooming himself with vigor, and his coat was looking healthier and more lustrous. Erin noted that when he started eating independently and requesting food regularly, they knew he had made a significant turnaround.
Owen has been making some great progress lately! After a slight drop in weight from 566g to 485g, he has bounced back beautifully and is now at a healthy 740g. Not only that, but his energy levels have skyrocketed, and his playful nature is shining through once again. Owen now bounces around joyfully, showing off his playful antics as if he’s got springs in his feet. He is absolutely smitten with his human companions and is always eager to have a buddy to engage in fun and games with.
After regaining his energy, he began to show his playful side once more. Owen’s mischievous nature shines through when he gets caught in the act – he doesn’t back down easily. Currently, his favorite pastime is breaking free from his playpen, turning it into a fun challenge. Once free, he darts around the room with glee, playing a game of catch me if you can.
@catasticalmeows shared that Owen loves to tire himself out with his antics before curling up sweetly on his foster mom and falling asleep to the soothing sound of his purrs. To Owen, there is no place more cozy and comforting to take a nap than in the presence of his loved ones. “It’s impossible not to chuckle and completely adore him,” they said.
Owen, aka @catasticalmeows, sports an adorable white patch on his back. Soon, he’ll be ready to mingle with other kittens and will have two foster friends eagerly waiting for him. With each passing day, Owen is showing impressive progress, growing stronger and bigger. Whoever adopts him will surely be blessed with happiness and endless joy in their forever home.
